All You Need to Know Before Traveling to Costa Rica

Broken down SUV, burned out brakes while going uphill in Arenal Volcano. The car slid back towards the left, into a light post which kept us from not falling down the mountain. No, this does not affect our vision of Costa Rica, what happened afterwards did. There were two cars behind us when the car kept sliding back because it couldn’t go uphill. Instead of being frustrated with our vehicle, the family in the car behind us was patient. The car ended up being held by the post, we exited the car from the passenger side. The family in the car behind us helped get the car started, and drove it uphill to make sure we were safe. Then the second family followed us until we reached our destination because they wanted to make sure we were safe. When we thanked them, offered to compensate them, but they refused and said this is the Costa Rican way, Pura Vida!

Throughout the country every destination was filled with kind people, willing to help or share recommendations. Today I will share with you what to do while in Costa Rica, when to visit, where to stay, and what not to miss!

Costa Rica boasts an array of luxurious accommodations, from boutique eco-lodges to opulent beachfront resorts. For the ultimate relaxation stay, consider a stay in the Papagayo Peninsula, where you’ll find some of the country’s most exclusive resorts. If you prefer a rainforest retreat, the Arenal region offers lavish eco-lodges with natural hot springs and stunning volcano vistas. For a taste of local culture and pristine beaches, explore Nicoya Peninsula, where you can book a luxurious villa or beachfront bungalow.

Where to Stay?

Costa Rica boasts an array of accommodation options catering to diverse preferences. Whether you prefer the comfort of a traditional resort or the immersive experience of staying in a luxurious treehouse amidst nature, Costa Rica offers a distinctive lodging choice for every traveler. In this curated selection, I've highlighted two exceptional accommodations that seamlessly extend your daily adventures into enchanting overnight escapes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the pristine and captivating nature of Costa Rica.

Rancho Pacifico, an idyllic retreat nestled close to Marino Ballena and Corcovado National Parks. Here, the majestic meeting of mountains and sea unfolds nearly 2,000 feet above sea level, providing guests with breathtaking vistas of the Pacific Ocean. The resort's serene location is ideal for those seeking a wellness retreat, offering a variety of rejuvenating experiences such as spa treatments, private yoga classes, meditation sessions, and health-focused culinary delights. Whether you're indulging in relaxation while gazing at the mesmerizing ocean views or embarking on an adventure in the nearby national parks, this is an unforgettable getaway that unites nature, wellness, and tranquility.

Nestled in the heart of the Arenal Volcano region, Hotel Nayara Springs offers an intimate and exclusive adult-only boutique resort experience. As Central America's first luxury camp, it features African Safari tent-style accommodations, seamlessly blending with the stunning Costa Rican landscapes. Imagine sleeping in canopy beds, enjoying a private plunge pool fed by natural mineral hot springs, and indulging in double head outdoor showers. This is my top choice! With its luxurious villas, lush rainforest backdrop, and serene ambiance, Hotel Nayara Springs is a paradise for couples. It's the ultimate destination for honeymooners and couples celebrating special occasions. Not to exclude, their mission is to develop the rainforest, support the wildlife population and the preservation of sloths and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
