From Softball Star to Solo Explorer

Hi, I’m Amy. Born in California and raised on military bases around the world, travel was woven into my soul from the very beginning. From Japan to North Carolina to Florida, I grew up navigating change—and learning how to find magic in every place.

As a competitive softball player, I traveled all over the United States and Puerto Rico, chasing big dreams and building resilience. That same drive led me through college athletics, a degree in Criminal Justice, a Master Degree in Business (during COVID) and eventually, a leadership career in healthcare.

From Corporate Burnout to Global Inspiration

I spent years leading hospital teams across the U.S., rising to Director-level roles. But the higher I climbed, the more I felt the disconnect. Seeing others around me genuinely unhappy in their corporate roles they worked so hard for was my wake-up call: I didn’t want success without soul.

So I flew to China, half-solo, and had my first real taste of unfiltered freedom. That trip cracked something open—and from then on, I vowed to use every vacation day to explore.

The Trip That Changed Everything

Costa Rica was the turning point. After a group girls’ trip, I stayed behind to explore solo. I booked a treehouse stay with a sweet elderly couple, dined with locals, and rediscovered joy in the simplest moments. That’s when I realized: this is how travel should feel.

When Travel Becomes Love

Fast forward to Croatia—another solo trip turned soul encounter. After a missed hostel check-in and zero sleep, I wandered into a restaurant and met a tall stranger who would soon become my husband. From Croatia to Prague to seven months living abroad during COVID, our love story unfolded like an unexpected adventure.

Tag Along Travels was born in the quiet moments in between—the days where I sat wondering who I was without a job title, and what I could build instead.
